Byron, Life and Legend
Faber & Faber; 2006
There are many books about Lord Byron, and when it comes to Mr Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Know it certainly is helpful to tell the truth from the myth.
I have found Byron, Life and Legend accessible, well researched and entertaining. For her work, Ms MacCarthy used material from John Murray’s archive. She was one of the first biographers to have a closer look at Lord Byron’s relationship with men.
The book was one of the sources for my post about William Bankes.
